While massage therapy has been practiced for humans for thousands of years, it is a form of alternative medicine gaining traction within the pet community. It can help prevent injuries, aid your pet’s body when healing and strengthen the bond between yourself and your furry friend.

Massage therapy offers many benefits for your pet. His physical and mental health is helped through increased circulation; improved joint flexibility and muscle tone and improved condition of his skin, coat, gums and teeth. It is a way to boost his self esteem through gaining his trust through the act of being touched or calming him down if nervous or hyper. Massage therapy uses gentle manipulation of skin, muscles and connective tissue using hands-on techniques.

But with any medical treatment, traditional or otherwise, there are considerations to be made. It is not recommended if your pet is suffering from any of these conditions:
– Acute inflammation
– Cancer
– Cardiac disease
– Emergency Care
– Fever
– Open lesions
– Pregnancy
– Zoonotic diseases

If your pet is acting injured or ill, contact us to make sure a massage is an appropriate treatment. If you have questions about massage therapy for your pet, contact us to schedule an appointment with our licensed massage therapist.
